I am very happy to be able to announce that the first edition of James Joyce’s Finn’s Hotel published by Ithys Press has been announced! This (long-time coming) edition of James Joyce writings has been edited and arranged by the illustrious (and never dull) Danis Rose. Featuring illustrations from yours truly, design & letterpress by Michael Caine, limited in edition 180 copies.
From the Ithys Press announcement:
FINN’S HOTEL is a wonderful, serio-comic collection of ‘little epics’ that James Joyce wrote in 1923. Its existence and significance were discovered some decades ago … and its publication thwarted for twenty years. Ithys Press is delighted to bring to light at long last this lost piece of the Joyce literary puzzle.
The First Edition is published by Ithys Press in June 2013 in a finepress edition limited to 180 copies in three issues. FINN’S HOTEL is edited and arranged by Danis Rose, introduced by Seamus Deane, and is designed and printed letterpress by Michael Caine, with illustrations by Casey Sorrow.
The Guardian has written an article (featuring an illustration from the book) about the first publication of Finn’s Hotel, Joyce’s “last undiscovered” publication. You can read it here:
This is the second book featuring my illustrations published with Ithys Press, Cats of Copenhagen being the first.
